The Hinckley Challenge

I decided to take the Hinckley Challenge and read the Book of Mormon in 97 days as a tribute to our great prophet. That means 5.5 pages a day.

I started last night, and have to say I was so tired I practically had to march in place while reading to stay awake.

I was struck as always by that wonderful phrase on the “tender mercies” of the Lord:

“But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance” (1 Ne. 1:20).

David A. Bednar said: The Lord’s tender mercies are the very personal and individualized blessings, strength, protection, assurances, guidance, loving-kindnesses, consolation, support, and spiritual gifts which we receive from and because of and through the Lord Jesus Christ. Truly, the Lord suits “his mercies according to the conditions of the children of men” (D&C 46:15). source

I have seen these little miracles of mercy in my life and want to renew my effort to look for them more.
